The Hawthorne Hill Nature Center is located right off Route 20 and Randall Road. The one-mile trail makes it perfect for short hikes with your littles. The Nature Center has great activities for kids of all ages.
Enjoy a quick walk or a long, relaxing hike along one of Pilcher Park's many trails. Stop in the Nature Center for a look at some cool amphibians and have a leisurely lunch at the picnic area before heading off for some more adventure!
This hidden gem on the south side is a huge nature center with plenty of indoor activities and creative play for kids. There are also some short trails that lead down to the lake- perfect for all ages.
Tucked back behind the sports complex and community pool at James O'Breen Community Park, in St. Charles, is small slice of native prairie and oak savanna called the Hickory Knolls Natural Area. With a little over 4 miles of trails and the Hickory Knolls Discovery Center, it's a great place for you and your little one(s) to see great examples of the diversity of ecosystems found throughout Kane County including woodlands, prairie and grasslands, and wetlands
The Red Oak Nature Center has a lot of interactive exhibits that are perfect for a cold winter day or a little break from the summer heat. Take a short walk down to the river or to the only cave in Kane County! Extend your time outside and take walk down to Lippold Park to explore the rope walk and wetland boardwalk!
